SEO –The abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization which is the practice of optimizing a website for keyword search results within a search engine. Examples include Google, Yahoo and Bing.

SERP – Stands for Search Engine Results Page. This is the page displayed when a user has a search query within search engines.

Traffic – The number of visits to a website.

Keyword – “Words or phrases that users write into the search box to find a website with matching content. Specifying a keyword and using it in your content is what helps web crawlers categorize your website and display it at the right time.”

Keyword Research/ Optimization – Researching keywords that are relevant to your website and identifying the best phrases to optimize your website for based on search volume and conversions.

Backlinks – Links from a website that pointing towards a different website. Also called “inbound links.”

Internal Links – Links from one site that point to other pages on the same site.

Engagement – How many searches your website has from search results.

Competitive Analysis – Process of identifying your competitors’ strategies and google ranking to relate to your own website.

Ranking – The order of the search results.

Link Building – The “process of earning links to your site for the purpose of building your site’s authority in search engines.”

Search Volume – The amount of times a keyword is searched on a database.

Organic – A natural placement that is not a paid advertisement.

URL – Stands for Uniform Resource Locators which are the address for a particular content on the internet.

Navigation – Links that direct visitors to other pages on the same site.
